Ms. Victoria DeBlassie--Indigenous Art
Hello NACA Community! My name is Victoria DeBlassie, and I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After receiving my BFA from the University of New Mexico in 2009 and my MFA from the California College of the Arts in 2011, I was awarded a Fulbright grant to Florence, Italy, where I resided for 13 years, furthering my artistic research and teaching. Upon my return to New Mexico this summer, I am thrilled to share my art experience and commitment to environmentally sound art practices, including the recycling of materials, with my students at NACA. When I am not creating or teaching art, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going on hikes, studying new languages, and learning new things. My goal for the school year is to empower the next generation of young artists to express themselves through the cultural and ecological value of the handmade and creative reuse of materials, generating a brighter and more sustainable future.
