A Message From Our Executive Director

ADFE
Welcome to our school!!!

The Native American Community Academy (NACA) is a school that is founded on a community vision based on the core foundational concepts of academic excellence, identity development, holistic wellness, and leadership grounded in core values.

At the CNM campus this year, we had a small morning circle with our students, staff, community, families and partners from CNM. As I looked around, I thought back to the very first day morning circle in August 2006 and remembered the hopes and intentions that were mentioned that day. We were a beginning a brand new school with students and families who were committed to the mission set forth. We started school that year amidst a ton of changes and challenges, including facilities renovations and questions of program offerings, but with a commitment and excitement for what lies ahead. Years later, we are a school and community of nearly five hundred students/families, almost 250 graduates, two campuses (one on land operated by the 19 Pueblos and one on a community college campus), and have been the inspiration for a network to help communities create and transform schools in 5 states.

This has been possible through community. We’d like to thank all of you for your support of your school. We know there are bumps in the road but we are continually striving to improve our school for the sake of our children. We know that our community is rooted in the strength and power of our ancestors and a drive towards something great. We’ll look forward to “Growing Together” as a community to make sure that our students are receiving an excellent and relevant education that is grounded in who they are and where they live.

Lastly, shout out to all the families, community members, teachers and staff at NACA today who characteristically give their sweat and tears to making sure our students get the best. We see you, we hear you, we love you.
