August 20, 2015
Dear NACA Students, Parents, and Community,
We hope that the first week of school has been as exciting and inspiring for students and parents as it has been for NACA staff. Our first 2 days were spent in grade level orientations, with students getting to know their new teachers, classmates, and grade level expectations. The rest of the week was spent in classes, with students beginning to learn new skills and content.
This letter is meant to serve as notification of a very important update to our 1st semester schedule:
Due to a change to APS’ High School Schedule, NACA was notified that we have to change our Thursday schedule. NACA received very short notice of this change, and we are still working with APS to determine our options moving forward. Once we are clear about our options, we will solicit parent feedback about your needs and preferences. Temporarily, we have decided to change our Thursday dismissal time to 12 O’Clock Noon on Thursdays. This change will take affect beginning Thursday, August 27, 2015.
If your child rides the bus, he or she will be returning to the bus stop 1 hour earlier than was published on our original schedule. If your child attends Out of School Time, NACA will provide programming 12:15 – 1pm on August 27 and September 3 and 12:15pm – 4pm beginning September 8.
NACA is doing everything within its power to work with Albuquerque Public Schools as well as to preserve students’ instructional time. In order not to shorten class times on Thursdays, we will be moving advisory to Friday and will be working with our lunch vendor to serve sack lunches, in order to serve lunch more efficiently.
We apologize for the short notice and the inconvenience. Meanwhile, please don’t hesitate to call or email your child’s advisor or NACA’s administrative team for more information. Anpao Duta Flying Earth, Head of School, can be reached at [email protected] and Missy Wauneka, the Director of Curriculum and Instruction can be reached at [email protected]. Additionally, we also welcome suggestions about how to best support NACA families in this transition.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience that you may experience as a result of this,
The NACA Administrative Team
