Family Meetings
A NACA representative will conduct individually scheduled meetings with newly accepted students. These meetings are intended to provide our families with a one-on-one information session about NACA. Any questions and concerns may be addressed at this time. It also gives us a chance to assess the strengths and challenges of the student so we may better meet the needs of our students and families.

How does the lottery work?

The New Mexico State Department of Education has designed a lottery system that requires charter schools to hold an open enrollment procedure. There are presently 60 spaces open at the Native American Community Academy for the 2008-2009 school year including 60 spaces for incoming 6th graders and limited spaces for 7th, 8th and 9th graders.

Once you have completed the initial lottery application, your name will be placed on a list for enrollment. On January 31, 2008 we will hold a lottery drawing and the first 60 names drawn will be admitted for the 2008– 2009 school year for the sixth grade. The remaining students will be placed on a waiting list and called when a space opens. New 7th, 8th and 9th graders will be accepted if there are openings at those grade levels for the upcoming school year. Siblings do receive preference if the family is currently enrolled at NACA.

Do I have to do this every year?
No. Once students are entered into the academy, they will have preference over any new students annually. We anticipate that your long-term investment in your child’s future, well-being and education will be with the Native American Community Academy as we grow together. Just as the students will create bonds with one another, we also believe strong bonds among our parents will ensure a nurturing, high performing, supportive and safe school environment.

How will I be notified?
The school will contact all parents via a letter of confirmation delivered to the address indicated on your lottery enrollment application at the end of each lottery. Parents will be contacted to schedule a family meeting and to complete the in person registration process with a NACA Staff Member.
