Speech made March 21, 1829 by Andrew Jackson to the Creek People telling them to move west of the Missippi River.

Timeline
1829 - Andrew Jackson was elected president.

March 23, 1829 - Andrew Jackson asked Cherokee's to leave their homeland.
May 26, 1830 - Andrew signed the Indian Removal Act.

1831 - The Cherokee go to the Supreme Court for aid on the Indian Removal Act.

1832 - Supreme Court ruled in favor of Cherokees but Jackson did not enforce the law.

1835 - The Treaty of New Echota was signed, legally making the Cherokees move to Indian Territory.
1837 - Andrew's Second term ended.

1838-1839 - The Cherokee were forced from their homelands, making the Tail of Tears.

Andrew Jackson was the 7th President of the United States. He was put into office in 1829, serving for two terms until the year 1837. Andrew Jackson was known for being the president that served the common man. To Native Americans, this could be described as a hard time because of the treatment they had sufffered.
